tuna-disguise

Advances in biomimicry, robotics and biotechnology, never fail to set me off daydreaming of future applications, improvements and interdisciplinary crossbreeding. Depending on your outlook cyborgs may fall in your pessimist (robot-apocalypse) scenarios but as far as my sci-fi tastes are concerned, there could be nothing more exciting*.

As for the mentioned robotic leader-fish, the potential is in keeping innocent fish away from man-made hazard zones by steering them clear of things such as oil spills, (this technique could be applicable to other animals as well).

But could robot-leader-fish-tech be co-opted as a means of more effective fishing? Will tuna-fish sandwiches taste better or worse without the added dolphin? Will robot-fish turn on their human masters?  No telling just yet, but I can’t wait to find out.

*Hyperbole; before I finished typing that sentence I had already thought of 10 things that could potentially be more exciting. Here’s just one area that could blow your sci-fi socks off with further discoveries, for ex. That being said, cyborgs are tough to beat in the inevitability scale.
