Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School is an alternative life-drawing scene that combines really interesting models, drinks and sketching (it’s usually held at bars). I’ve gone to a bunch and always have a great time. They have over 100 chapters so find your local branch, grab a sketch-pad and have some fun! They usually last a couple hours and they host different types of competitions during the sessions, it’s also a great way to meet local burlesque, uh, enthusiasts.
Above is the poster I did for the upcoming Dr. Sketchy’s session (this weekend! Go check it out) in New Haven, CT. It’s organized by a couple of friends that are raising money for the National MS society.
Multiple Sclerosis (not to be confused with Scolio-lio-sis) is an autoimmune disease that causes damage to the brain and spinal cord. It causes your body to attack the protective coating around nerve fibers, leading to signal failure. It’s more common in women, can show up at any age and an estimated 300,000 people in the US are affected. What’s worse is if you read the symptoms they seem so vague that you can easily whip yourself up into a frenzy: Loss of balance, muscle spasms, constipation and stool leakage, frequent need to urinate, double vision, decreased attention span, problems with vaginal lubrication- heck I’ve experienced all of those tonight alone! This is why you’re not supposed to look up medical symptoms online (I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve online-diagnosed myself with cancer)
So if you’re anywhere near CT this weekend, stop by Dr. Sketchy’s, say hi and contribute to a great cause! I just might even SKETCH YOU IN THE FACE! I mean, sketch you.

If you’re in the area, I highly recommend you do this. Do it naugh! It’s for a great cause, and the fun/money donated ratio is tipped way in your favor. I’ve always wanted to attend a Dr. Sketchy’s event here in New York, but my religion forbids me from looking at women.
Wait, what?!
