small-victories-have-cumulative-effects

Here’s the news.

And since the proliferation of clear thinking is paramount to the Sci-ənce mission, I thought it worth the price of a little political dabbling today.
The news is an interesting development in Turkey’s ongoing struggle for internet freedom. Turkey is on the Reporters without Borders list of internet enemies and on August 22nd of this year the government will implement an internet filter akin to The Great Firewall of China.

Beware anytime your freedom is trampled ‘for your own good’. Be skeptical of anyone that hides behind ‘protecting decency’ while silencing dissent. And good luck to all who participate in the ongoing protests.

In other news, as Maki reported on Monday, we spent the weekend hanging out and coming up with some exciting new ventures (both under the categories of ‘science’, and ‘other’) that we will most likely announce to you here. When we’re good and ready, that is. I also had the chance to conduct an experiment I had in mind for quite a while. Everyone told me I was crazy. They said it couldn’t be done. But I went against conventional wisdom, worked hard, and achieved my goal anyway. I ate my body weight in deviled eggs! (and horrified some onlookers in the process)

Don’t let anyone take your dreams from you. Follow your heart, and one day you too may know such glory.
